Keys

We've got the keys! Well that's what my text message said. A rush of feelings came at me...excitement, trepidation, enthusiasm, fear, freedom, commitment. How could a silly little word cause so much seemingly confused brain activity?!

I looked up the menacing word in the dictionary. The list of meanings for "keys" is long and impressive. It can be used as a noun, adjective or verb. More than just something that opens a lock, it also refers to access, clarity, tone. It implies security, explanation, importance. The word is used to describe that little metal device that opens locks, but it's also used in industries including music, technology, electricity, biology, masonry, carpentry, basketball, photography, and painting.

It's no wonder I feel a bit confused. Using the Facebook category I all too often chuckle at, I would categorize my relationship with my new home today as: "it's complicated."

But tomorrow I begin a new, exciting journey and I have no doubt that the adventure will be incredible. Tomorrow I open another door in my life and my keys will help lead the way.
