A funny thing happened on our way to buy small serving bowls...
...we walked into a store and saw a very modern white tree, shaped a bit like a giant Hershey's Kiss with holes cut out of the sides leaving space for hanging orange balls. I thought it was an interesting take on a Christmas tree. We didn't have one yet and I was somewhat conflicted about getting a real one this year. I was charmed by the idea and before I knew it John declared, "we could make one." There would be no pine smell, but that's easily remedied. What I found appealing was it would be made of natural materials, could be stored and reused year after after, it would shed no needles, we could make it 10' ft tall and it would fit into our decor perfectly...
...so John made it out of maple plywood, painted one panel flat green (VOC free of course), the other a moddled green (like sponge painting) and we trimmed it up with a few new ornaments, mostly things we already had. We even saved the circle cut outs so that we can decorate them as window decor for next year.
