I'm not much of a shopper. You'll rarely hear me talk about going to the mall or spending any of my weekend engaged in "retail therapy". But ask me if I'm interested in going to a flea market or antique fair and you'll see my eyes light up. I enjoy discovering unique items and hunting for deals, so when our neighbors asked us to join them at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire, I was quick to answer, "yes."
The critically acclaimed Antiques Faire is held the first Friday of ever month on the former Alameda Naval Air Station. With over 800 dealers hawking their wares, the Faire is quite a sight...and to enjoy it fully, one requires some good walking shoes and a healthy slather of sunscreen!
On our very first visit, I spied a beautiful vintage brocade dress complete with bustle. I asked myself where I'd wear such a thing? But I was captivated and had to try it on. I zipped it up and gave a little spin in front of the mirror while both John and the salesman (a handsome young man from Los Angeles) admired its nearly perfect fit. It WAS pretty sweet, but as John knew all too well, my next move was always to put the item back on the hanger and walk away. I didn't NEED it.
As we continued wandering the fair grounds, the dress stayed in the back of my mind. I wondered if I should have it. But again I asked...when would I be invited to an event appropriate for donning this playful frock?
Turns out a wedding in northern Wisconsin with a handsome and mischievous fella was just the place! Congrats, Phil and Krista!

Gorgeous! The dress and you!
