Going with the flow

I'm kinda over lists. At least for a little while. It seems lately that the calendar has been chock full of events or to do's, leaving little time for any spontaneity. So this past weekend, during a pleasant break in the rain, we grabbed our gear and headed out, with no particular agenda in mind, to reacquaint ourselves with the natural beauty that surrounds us here in the Bay Area.

While driving, as if the scene had been perfectly orchestrated for us, we spotted a waterfall off in the distance.  We headed toward it and ended up on a quiet residential street signed as "no outlet."  We parked and searched for a path that would lead us to the waterfall that we could hear cascading through the wooded hillside.  The few lucky neighbors who call this spot home must delight in this time of year when they can open their windows and enjoy the relaxing sounds of rushing water.

We finally found a rough and ragged path that we believed would lead us to the waterfall.  As we walked, we decided that it was likely the work of some dedicated and nature-loving neighbors who knew that working with mother nature required simply going with the flow.  We crossed weathered wooden bridges, scrambled up rocky hillsides, and tread carefully through areas that had been washed out...but the fresh smell of the forest and the beautiful waterfall views were well worth the effort!
